Heard something through New Buffalo about 10
Minutes ago, only a few logical options. Didn’t seem like a long train whatever it was.

Something was whistling through zeeland at 06:00 this morning. Since D702 went west yesterday during the day, maybe D700 did the Grand Rapids turn overnight?

That would have been Q327, they went out to Holland before the Amtrak and then worked in the yard until after the Amtrak slipped past.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - June 2021
D705-31 westward was reported last night by the DD mp CH104.3 @ 23:53 with 292 axles & 4,347 ft. CSXT engines #4538 + #435 + #2016 & 69 cars. Originally, he was reported as also having the CSXT engine #578 but the axle math doesn’t work out to include 3 six axle engines (the CSXT #2016 is a 4 axle type). I’m only assuming he had gone to Grand Rapids with the CSXT #2016, when he was yarding his train there, no mention was made for engine details, just “take your power to the Mouse”.
D705-31 @ 00:28 westward was reported by the DD mp CH126.3 with 292 axles.
D706-01 @ 00:15 was heard inside Grand Rapids talking to Rouge Tower & D705 heard saying to D706 his train looked good with an engine on the bottom.
D705-31 @ 01:33 reported from Plaster Creek mp CGT 2.0
D706-01 @ 02:14 eastward reported by the DD mp CH126.3 with 188 axles. CSXT engine #901 & 44 cars & rear dpu CSXT #982. I’m assuming this is D706, no mile post call outs were heard from him, which, I have found to be typical when the CSXT #901 is leading.
D706-01 @ 04:52 eastward reported by the DD mp CH104.3 with 188 axles & 2,773 ft. CSXT engine #901 & 44 cars & rear dpu CSXT #982.
NOTE: D707-31 with CSXT engine #4037 at mp CH89.9 released his EC1 @ 04:25 from Ensel to the e/e Grand Ledge & right after that D706-01 with CSXT engine #901 leading copied an EC1 at mp CH111 for that location to the EAS Ensel.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - June 2021
I heard them on the radio saying they had an engine dead in tow for D708. They may have dropped 578 in the yard before leaving Ensel.Tom49801 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:08 amD705-31 westward was reported last night by the DD mp CH104.3 @ 23:53 with 292 axles & 4,347 ft. D702 headed to Hamilton on the next 20 minutes. Doing the dock track this afternoon, around 3.
Re: CSX Train Location Updates - June 2021
D706-01 went through Howell at 07:02 this morning with 29 cars. 901+6013 on the head end, 982 on the rear. Did 705:31 did have the four units mentioned by amessmann at Brighton so if your axel count is off Tom, then 578 did get set out at Lansing.

I just heard something real strange with the DD at 44.2, whatever happened it said 10 axles. Can anybody elaborate on what that was?

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - June 2021
It was DED test at mp CG44.2 with alarms for axles 21 to 23 & 32 & 33. Total axles was 100. Typically, 100 axles are set as a "test train" allowing the maintainer to get from the house to track side once he hits "Enter" & then he kicks the DED paddles & listens for the DD's radio transmission to confirm the test. You can set different axle quantities for a test train with your laptop. My DD sites were in 3 track & 4 track territory & we would typically use 200 axles for our test train. At times, you will also hear the Maintainer doing what we had called "a flame test" to alarm the HBD scanner on each of the rails by waving a heat source (I used a cigar).SD80MAC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:57 amProbably a maintainer testing the DD.mjotrainbrain wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 10:42 amI just heard something real strange with the DD at 44.2, whatever happened it said 10 axles.
