Litteraly just got this information hot off the press and it looks like Lake state has either sold em or is leasing em. Anyone have any news on where they are going? Might have to make an emergency trip before they make it to Canada.
I've been under the impression that Bluewater had sold them a long time ago.
And the chapter quit at the end of 2019.
You would be correct I should probably change the title to “Former” Bluewater NRHS cars the baggage car I believe is former NYC Harvestraw Bay the 2nd one I’m unsure about. The last 2 Passenger cars that were on the roster before being donated I believe were GTW Silver lake and SAL Observation car Global Star. Silver lake was given to TVRM and Global Star was intended to go to the North Carolina Transportation museum. Not sure what came of the last one though.
It was/still is(?) Amtrak policy to not hook up private cars except at terminals and a few select other stations.
It was causing too many delays to the scheduled trains.
If they're heading for Canada, CN is likely doing the tow especially since LSRC was shoving them west to the CN Flint Terminal(that's the name on the sign).
Wasn't the SAL car owned by the gentleman in Mt. Pleasant? SRI passed on it but I thought Lake State had bought it?
I can’t say for sure what the history behind the car is but Robert Thatcher who is an active poster here and Bluewater NRHS Member has a post on groups.io that lists the disposition of a good portion of Bluewater equipment during the 2012-2013 season when LSRC forcibly kicked em out of the Saginaw roundhouse by raising lease prices to an absolute absurd amount.
Cars are still currently at yard office got some good photos but cops have been called not sure who did but they were friendly and suggested talking to the yard office guys first be warned and get photos at your own risk
Can confirm from photos of the documents I got that the cars ARE going to cannada via flint sub to Sarnia might be a good shot to get going through the tunnel.
What's the train ID they are on? Something tells me that those were sold to Amtrak, judging by the fact they are in Griffith and most likely will be interchanged to CSX, don't quote me...

They were absolutely NOT sold to Amtrak, Amtrak isn't buying 70+ year old equipment!
