Re: GDLK Operations
Yes, MQT cars from PCA in Manistee get interchanged via CSX to GDLK. Return empties come back the same.
Otsego gets the big RBOX cars for paper loading. We would get those for a wallboard plant in Jacksonville. Is it for US Gypsum or Dan Halen Sheetrock? I forget....don't touch the trim!

As reliable as what filters down from Watco/GDLK management to the employees. The 3834 said to be getting a "Dash 3" electrical cabinet. The 7030 they are thinking age and condition will relegate it to the scrappers. GDLK tried to fob it off on one of Watco's switching operations a few years ago and couldn't interchange it. Since then it's had enough parts stripped to make WAMX object. Watco has told GDLK they have too many locomotives. The 4189 may not be back when it's rebuild is complete.Super Chief wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 4:31 pmSomebody on Facebook reported that 7030 & 3534 were being sold and moved? Any reliable info on this?

4189 will be back and 3534 is getting the upgrade, not 3834.PatAzo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 2:57 pmAs reliable as what filters down from Watco/GDLK management to the employees. Re: GDLK Operations
The construction at the crossing at 144th st has started. It will be closed from 10/12/20 to 10/16/20 and the detour will be the road just north of it. Please be carful using the detour because its in a small town and lots of kids play in the road or near the road. They started replacing ties on Sunday and the crossing is being replaced now.
Update will come in the next few days...
As of Friday, the construction is done. The crossing is very nice and smooth and the sidewalk has been replaced too. The crossing is open to traffic now

Went by 36th/eastern ave in Grand rapids this evening, and appears Grand Elk pulled the 50ish empty center beams out of storage from Steelcase area this afternoon.

The crossing at 144th is done (as stated before) and all ties are replaced. All work is done in Moline for now. The next thing Grand Elk will do in Moline is replace the crossing just north of 144th. They planed on doing it this year but covid changed things around so they did 144th instead. Next year they plan on doing the crossing just north of 144th. If anyone needs or wants updates on track work just contact me via privet chat.

Re: GDLK Operations
Sounds like Trackwork south of L&W Supply is supposed to begin soon including getting the run around operable so the Hastings Lead is no longer a shoving move. It also sounds like something will be happening down at the end of the Lead, but I cannot get any more info on that.
There will also be some cars heading to the Harvest Energy spur in the immediate future.

Re: GDLK Operations
Couple pics of GDLK crews working just southeast of 36th St and Eastern Ave in Grand Rapids in the old Steelcase area. This is the area that the 50+ empty centerbeams were being stored. They are working on the run-around area.

Re: GDLK Operations
That should be operable by the end of the year. No more shoving.

Car is still there in the yard visible from 131 and there will be others to follow it.

Re: GDLK Operations
Welp the 7030 is no more.
Re: GDLK Operations
I have a couple questions about GDLK customers:
Is this a correct listing of CN/GDLK jointly served customers?
Allnex
Fabri-Kal
L. C. Howard Kilgore Rd.
Green Bay Packaging
Arvco Container (CN Only?)
Also are are Fresh Solution Farms in White Pigeon, Clark Logic in Constantine, and BlueLinx in Grand Rapids still active shippers?

Re: GDLK Operations
BlueLinx hasn’t gotten cars in a while, or at least I haven’t seen any.

Re: GDLK Operations
Bluelinx is going back to getting cars at the facility on the Elk in GR, located on the Hughart Runner. For a while they were getting cars on CSX in the old Reynolds Aluminum plant on the Acme lead.

Re: GDLK Operations
What is LC Howard Kilgore Rd? Are you referring to the Green Bay packaging building? There’s LC Howard on the PRR north of Miller Rd, and whatever International Paper is called now on Miller rdNS3322 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:59 pmI have a couple questions about GDLK customers:

Re: GDLK Operations
Nope, LC Howard has a little warehouse/transload facility at the old CML Lumber site. Strangely the large CML sign is still up and has not been taken down or replaced.Ben Higdon wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 11:42 amWhat is LC Howard Kilgore Rd?
