What got my attention?
I came across this and noticed something interesting. What do you think caught me eye?
Re: What got my attention?
The fact that it looks AI generated? The electric looking engine with no wheels?

Re: What got my attention?
yes old time photos can look surreal.
the tunnel motors were tanks. needed the weight for traction. thus wheels aren't readily visible.
but it was something else. you're on the right track though

I figured it was AI generated too. Where the three people are standing, they seem to be on a piece of rail that serves no purpose. Quite a few pieces of rail like that, especially noticeable on the right side of the photo.

Re: What got my attention?
the tunnel motors used under running third rail. while boxed for safety, having a leg rest on it, especially the live rail side, not a good idea.

Not AI. Same picture is in the Detroit News Archives. Grand opening of the depot I believe.
The jumbled artifacts in the image are from compression.

Some 3rd rail had wooden covers to prevent ice and snow build up. Rules were a little different then. Didn't type that but sounds cool!

and it's all gone now. recent google aerial image shows that ford appears to have allowed for the possibility of a siding next to the main.M.D.Bentley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 7:45 pmSome 3rd rail had wooden covers to prevent ice and Fluffy White pieces of Death build up.
