Riverview Trenton Railroad
Riverview Trenton Railroad
Anyone hear anything about what’s going on there? There’s been some activity on the property lately with a trench being dug and some prefab rail being laid down (sans ballast so far because it’s been pretty badly flooded) on the south side of W. Jefferson but on the outside of the fence. I drove by today and noticed what is clearly equipment for a crossing, pieces of a signal bridge and a shed for the electronics waiting to be installed.

Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
Did a company open up on the property? HyCAL – Ferrolux Metals?
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
Well they won't be able to use the guise of a railroad to circumvent zoning rules.
Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
See that’s where I’m confused. For the longest time RTRR was just a shell company and there’s been absolutely nothing going on there for probably close to 20 years beyond some old ties being stacked up on the property. All of a sudden since 2023 started a large stack of prefab and the crossing signal bridge has appeared, as well as whatever “construction” someone did. Something is going on and I don’t trust the Moroun family.

I took these today from my bike. This is looking southbound from W. Jefferson. The grade crossing equipment is behind the trees on the left side of the bottom picture so it’s mostly hidden from view. I couldn’t really get a good picture of it because there was too much traffic.
Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
Work has begun rebuilding the crossing over W. Jefferson and reconnecting to Conrail.

Good question. The owner seems to not have made any public statement. Not surprisingly.
It was noted RTRR has been storing trailers on their land.
Wonder who owns them? (that's not a real question)
The local group has noticed the trackwork.

Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
That’s a fantastic question. Everything around there is already serviced by Conrail. Unless they’re planning on building a yard for car storage I have no clue what could be going on.

What do you mean, local group?
Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
The overly dramatic Grosse Ile people are losing their minds over it from what I’ve seen in their facebook group.

given the company behind all of this, that might be warranted in this case

Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
I mean, this was always the plan, right? When the Morouns bought the parcel south of Sibley (already owning everything north), the public plan was to be container transloading. I think the community groups gave people hope of steering the ultimate use, but I think the fate was sealed when it was bought.

I could be wrong, but, didn't Matty pass away a year or 2 ago?? But I see what you are saying--- and I would not trust that corporation either .
Re: Riverview Trenton Railroad
His son runs the company now. He’s a little less confrontational than the old man was but he’s still very much a chip of the old block from what I’ve seen and heard.joeyuboats wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 9:58 amI could be wrong, but, didn't Matty pass away a year or 2 ago??
