Grand Elk north through Byron Center at 10:10pm. WAMX 4125 and WAMX 4209 with 68ish cars. Bit hard to see at night, think those were the engine numbers.

Wishing you had some thing else to do on your Friday evening? You could be on the contractor crew changing ties on the Newaygo bridge over the Muskegon River! I chatted with a guy protecting the pedestrian path underneath, they are swapping about four out of every five bridge ties over the whole length in this project. It’s 136lb Rail over the whole thing, in case anyone wondered. Pull a stick of rail, slide out the old ties, insert the new, put the rail down and spike it all back together!

They’re also laying some new 136lb welded rail from SDI on the curve just south of the bridge. It looks like some track work was also recently done for the MAC storage tracks. Nice to see the investment.

The northbound MQT train is tied down for the night at Nelson’s near Grant, 3389, 2041, 3408 for power, approx 50-60 cars.

GDLK southbound to Elkhart is in the hole at Three Rivers. Has his light to move and looks like an engineer on board.
This is my life. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

If this is a problem get used to it.

Is this corn oil coming from The Anderson's ethanol plant in Hartung (Albion)? If yes, why would they transload on other railroads which involves trucking the product rather than load on their own inter-plant spur?
