NB OSTN working AP with 386/329/383/395. They pulled onto the CSX main with eight cars on the head end for HESR and will back into the cars that L305 set off before reversing back to the GLC main.

In a recent video by AANscaleRunner a half dozen or so cement cars went north to Elmira. It also appeared several empty cement cars were used as spacers between the plastic pellet loads.

GLC here working mcbain. Looks like they're dropping off 2 pole loads, 3 lumber loads and 2 empties at biewer 1145
Re: Great Lakes Central Train Location Updates - May 2023
I’ve seen this Biewer location receive inbound lumber loads before. Does anyone know why they receive inbound lumber when they are a mill who makes lumber?

The guys here at the mill said even with the added capacity here they can't keep up with demand after shuttering lake city. It used to be the other mill would add and subtract production to match demand. Now they buy lumber from other producers, unload it here, truck it to Lansing where it's relabeled as their own product then shipped to fill the orders they've committed to but can't fulfill. I've also heard recently of them unloading cars on the jail team tracks around Lansing. It must be their siding in Lansing just doesn't have the capacity to keep up or something.

Thank you for your detailed response.
The inbound cars I have seen were labeled from Weyerhaeuser.
I wonder if there is any connection between this and the Biewer loads I’ve seen going to Saginaw? Those cars are labeled as loaded in Jackson MS and destined for IL but end up in Saginaw.

The 3 loads dropped off today are marked "Westernvelt Lumber" on the wrapping.

The 3 loads of westervelt got picked up from Ann Arbor last Wednesday. Thought it was weird that lumber was going north and on NS centerbeams
Re: Great Lakes Central Train Location Updates - May 2023
Add the Biewer Mill in McBain as another customer that receives inbound lumber.

This past Tuesday I noticed a cut of cement hoppers on the pass at Walton Jct. I did not count how many or check reporting marks.
