A491 w CN 8925/CN ex-CREX 3914. This is our first ex-CREX unit that we’ve seen in MI.
Does anyone know how many "Active" ex CREX units are working on CN? Also, are there plans to re-paint them? Hopefully not since they are different! Well, these are killing all the "Dash 8" variant locos I believe!!!! Does anyone know how many Dash 8 locos are in service (if any)? Man I want some "Cowls" though!!!!
They purchased 75 of them. There are still 75 in storage.
Most are grey but some are apparently painted in BNSF scheme (likely built for BNSF and then sold to CREX then leased back to BNSF)
Just curious as to where you got that number? CN motive power desk supervisor in Montreal says 25 CREX units were acquired - renumbered CN 3913 - 3937. Maybe he meant 25 are currently active? Beats me.

Man o' War
From the press releases and reports online. I think they just have 25 so far. Everyday there are reports out of Illinois seeing 2 or 3 come in with the patched over scheme. It's either BNSF or UP where they are stored and they hand them off the CN.
Almost all of them have gone up through WI oddly enough. From what I understand, they didn't need much work and are fully in compliance with all of the Canadian Union requirements for microwaves, foot spas and other such amenities so it made for a sensible purchase. Plus they are in very good condition and if any do need any shopping, it won't be very hard to get them back going again.
CN 8952 was spotted shortly after 10:00 WB in Flint. It looked (bad pic) to be 2/3 on a tren. No idea on symbol but the unit was FF. Pic was too blurry to make out leader number.
