Hello everyone,
I came across an environmental assessment report in Google Books for an abandonment proposal of the C&O line between Hartford and Paw Paw, Michigan, dated May, 1976. The report stated that the environmental impact would be minimal if the line, except for a small segment in Hartford, were abandoned. The report noted opposition to the proposal from local business and government, and that federal operating subsidies were available. A portion of this line is still active as the West Michigan Railroad. Did C&O follow through with an abandonment application, or apply for operating subsidies?
Thanks,
Mark
