CN’s M391/L502 train pair

Up until about 2020 (when they were abolished). CN had a train pair that ran Toledo-Chicago and vice versa. The run out of Toledo ran as CN M391 and the run out of Chicago ran as CN L502.

It seemed like whenever I caught M391 and L502 before they were abolished, they had a TON of short covered hoppers (sand hoppers I think…?). These cars were always in a large single block of cars on the trains, so they had to be going to the same place if I had to guess. I have some reporting marks to go off if anyone needs it. Anyone know where these were going?

To and from the Wheeling and Lake Erie RR, which interchanges with the CN at Lang Yard in Toledo.

Either fracking sand (most likely) or roofing granules, maybe both.

I still smaller blocks of these cars on current trains.

502 originated at Battle Creek, and did pickup & setouts in route.
