Summer of 1962

Unread post by Rick Burn »

I spent two weeks in July 1962 in Baldwin, MI and rode train 25 from Baldwin to Traverse City. Attached are photos of the Baldwin Station with the combine and sleeping car "Traverse City" shown in Manistee.

The sleeping car left Chicago about 11 pm at night and was hooked to train 25 at Grand Rapids for the 6:05 am departure from Wyoming yard.

Rick, your photos didn’t post but I’m anxious to see them. My family has had a place just south of Baldwin for about 30 years and a fair amount of railroad history remains in that community. I’m always amazed to think that Baldwin had passenger service as late as 1966, later than many other larger cities in Michigan. Looking forward to seeing them!
