Muskegon CWC trackage

Does anyone know what the specific tracks at the CWC plant were used for? I believe they received coke, scrap iron, pig iron, silica (in modern 3 bay hoppers) and shipped out castings in boxcars. Did they also have a storage pile for scrap metal on site?

Bonus question--what would a typical switching move at CWC look like? (a typical week's inbound/outbound would be fantastic!!??)

Also, regarding Nugent sand--I caught the Defiance local coming into Garrett IN yesterday with several 2 bay hoppers from GM for Chicago. Could these be General Motors Defiance foundry sand empties coming back to Muskegon? Not sure of their routing. I often see cuts of two bay hoppers on Q326/327 through Bangor.

thanks for any help

Historically Nugent sand moved in CSX 2 bay hoppers, but lately it has been all moving in private cars. Most of them have MHLX reporting marks.

I have some model GTW two bay 70 ton covered hoppers that say "when empty return to Nugent Sand Muskegon Mich" on the side. Not sure if that's prototypical or not but I thought it was pretty cool.

Those are accurate, Kaden. GTW had a fleet of 2 bays for sand service from Nugent.

Prior to the covered hoppers GTW shipped the sand in gondolas with out tarps. On a windy day I'm told it was like a small sand storm when the gondola's came flying by.

The MHLX is returning empty to Berry Junction from Binghamton NY. The TILX is returning empty from New Castle PA.
