Yet another death that could be avoided if we had self driving cars. Heck, I was starting to accelerate at a 4 way stop and sneezed, glad I made it through. I swear, a sneeze will lead to a crash I'm in someday.

Allen McClelland - a model railroader from Dayton, Ohio who, in the early 1970s pioneered and popularized many ideas that have become basic tenets of model railroad operation philosophy and design. His HO scale Virginian & Ohio was covered heavily in the model railroad press and was cited as inspiring countless model railroads that came after.

Allen was a frequent presenter at model railroading conventions, participated in operations weekends across the Great Lakes region, and was considered by many (at least by me and everyone else I know who met him) to be a genuinely nice guy.

Allen passed following a massive stroke.

In the late 1970s I first started reading about his Virginian and Ohio layout. He will be missed.

Reading about his V&O in one of the early 90s issues of Model Railroader cemented my interest in the hobby. I still have that issue in my collection, I remember that exact picture. Huge loss.
