I was listening to Steven Wilson's podcast The Album Years today and they mentioned an artist I had never listened to by the name of Scott Walker. I've heard them mention his name before but this was the first time they singled out a particular track. In this case, the song is called "The Electrician" and for whatever reason this really spoke to me. Holy hell is it lyrically dark too. I don't think I've ever heard something so dissonant and yet so beautiful at the same time, and the instrumental section in the middle is... well I can't really put it into words.

The Walker Brothers - The Electrician

https://youtu.be/yELbkzAIfmA

I've been listening to this all day. I've been really going through some stuff lately and this brought me to tears at work. I need to make more hours in the day, I've never felt so inspired.

Nice Tool songs there GRH&C. I'm particularly fond of Tool's Stinkfist.

Here's another song to enjoy the vocal stylings of, Mike Patton of Faith No More, doing Middle Crisis on Leno: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqvxfKbbX3c

Can make sounds while breathing in during his rhythmic start to the song, bust out some melodic vocals, and throw in some heavy distortion, mixing back and forth between the styles with ease. They go on to sing I'm Easy after Middle Crisis, which is quite the departure from the previous song. Such a range on this dude.

Haven't posted in this thread in forever, because I haven't found any good songs in the primary genre I listen to, country.

I was listening to one of Detroit's country music stations (99.5) when a brand new song caught my attention, it was something that I'd been looking for forever. A song that's just downright country. No artificial drums, No rapper-turned-country, etc.

There's a line in the song however that hit me like nothing I've ever felt while listening to a song:

"When trucks don't sound like thunder, and no one prays for rain"

The first part of it hit me like a brick wall. Over the summer, I drove my dad's Ford F450 around a lot, it's got a 6.4L powerstroke engine that just sounds like thunder when you hit the gas. I learned how to drive this thing out in the middle of absolutely nowhere in Northern Michigan back in 6th grade, Driving up it and down the dirt road that our property is on with my dad. When the day the 6.4 goes extinct, I hope I'm in heaven by then.

(Disclaimer: Yes, I know, It'll be gone soon because of EV's, but you know what I mean )

The song also is just so well written, and the voices of Brantley Gilbert and Blake Shelton just make it sound like something from the 80's or 90's.

So allow me to present, Heaven By Then, by Brantley Gilbert and Blake Shelton, Featuring Vince Gill.

My English Lit teacher in high school was a local music critic, so he played Alice's Restaurant in class the day before Thanksgiving...and then had a one question pop quiz. "What's the only thing you can't get at Alice's Restaurant?" No one was paying attention enough to the song to know the answer.

While the lyrics of these two songs are laughable by how repetitive they are, still enjoy Scott's singing. Love the bass groove from Brian Marshall and guitar work from Mark Tremonti. Creed Say I: be forewarned, some naked boobs in the crowd during this Woodstock performance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nsYV0Cqh7w&t=1234s
Part of the lyrics: Say I, yeah, Say I, yeah, Say I, yeah, Say I, Say I, Say I, Say I.

Also, Creed What If follows a similar pattern with the lyrics:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABWVIcBnhUc&t=436s
I'll just ask one question - What if, What if, What if, What if, What if I, What if, What if, What if, What if, What if I, What if, What if, What if ,What if, What if I ,What if ,What if ,What if ,What if ,What if I ,What if you did? ,What if you lied?, What if I avenge? ,What if eye for an eye? ,What if your words , Would be judged like a crime? ,What if ,What if ,What if What if ,What if I ,What if, What if, What if, What if, What if I, What if, What if, What if, What if, What if I, What if,What if ,What if ,What if ,What if I

I love Creed but yeah, Scott Stapp isn’t always the poet he thinks he is.

I read this forum regularly and here are my two favorites so far. Note, I do not know all the proper terms to describe the music I like.

From ~Z~, Veruca Salt - Seether (Glastonbury '95). Seether just flat-out Rocks! However, it seems to be their only song with this particular sound and tempo. Everything else they play seems much different to me.

And from Chip, Johnny Hates Jazz - Shattered Dreams - LIVE at 80s Classical, 2019. I love the singer's energy and the acoustics of the symphony. Like Seether, this song's sound seems much different than other songs from this group.

Alter Bridge - Burn it Down
Part of their debut album, nice slower song with a lot of intensity as the song progresses. In the first link here, they switched roles so the lead singer does the guitar solos, and lead guitarist does the main vocals. Best live version I could find of this setup.

Actually not bad at all. Interesting dance type music. Didn't seem overly autotuned or anything, definitely enjoyed the listen.

More Alter Bridge is up for consumption:
Two tracks of theirs in combination with an orchestra.
Words Darker than their Words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTvJ1TYORJg&t=60s
The End is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7sdjPH513c
Such a full sound from each track, adding that orchestra in. Words Darker than their Words has a good back and forth between Myles and Mark doing the vocals, with good harmonies during the chorus. Myles' way of ending each of those songs with a very high pitched note is pretty intense.

I just found stumbled across thisthread, and as someone who had never listened to Creed before, I can say that I am now in love with their music.
