Our trail manager has been out repainting all of our mile markers and whistle posts this week. Can you name the trail and nearby cross street?

Close enough. It's at the Bailey Dr crossing of the Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Trail just north of Lowell. Vergennes is Mile 102.

Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Trail was the former C&O Railway that ran between Saginaw and Elmdale, MI through Lowell. The trail crossing at Bailey Dr in Vergennes Township, Kent County. Passenger train service on the old C&O trackage between GR and Saginaw was discontinued many years ago.

From 1982. The building at the top of the photo is still there along with the tracks and the water tower.

Not Lansing. I would say at least a few of the guys on this board have ridden these rails.

Guessing either somewhere on GLC or MQT? On the other hand, we have members of just about every railroad in michigan here, so chances are that a few of the guys on this board have indeed ridden on the rails pictured.

Quite true Zack. I hadn't thought about that aspect. Well, I have ridden these rails. Very old tracks for sure.
