GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Re: Where Is It?
It's cold in Michigan, so let's take a trip to a warmer climate and figure out where this is. CSX recently had a derailment near here, and this caboose is located in a state bordering the Atlantic Ocean.

Ashburn Georgia along US41. Looks like you were standing on the west side of the caboose.

Yes, indeed, on the CSX RR between Hudsonville and Zeeland on Chicago Drive. aka M-121 southwest of Grand Rapids and northeast of Holland, in Zeeland Township, Ottawa County. Amtrak no. 370/371 currently operating between GR and CHI with stops in Holland, Bangor and St. Joe.

Re: Where Is It?
Thought this would be good for a guess or two.
That's not foreign road power for a hint.

I know this spot very well but I'll let others guess so they can have some fun
DaveO, I suspect you have been around long enough to remember when the active customers at this location required switching 3-5x per week and the handful of other customers in the area required frequent switching too .

Re: Where Is It?
I'll help by narrowing it down to Livonia

Re: Where Is It?
Yes, it's Livonia. Let's see if someone else can get the exact location.
The riverfront from Downtown Detroit to Trenton.
The riverfront to Royal Oak.
Redford to Plymouth.
To a lesser extent, Pontiac.
Lots of industries, lots of tracks, lots of trains.
All a shadow of the past.
I mostly would cruise downriver as the at-grade crossings allowed my always on the move kind of railfanning.

Re: Where Is It?
Found it - Veronica St next to Motion Control Corp in Livonia. Was the first spur from the aerial view I zoomed in on, got a bit lucky.

Re: Where Is It?
Thinking about it now, I believe that industry lead has been used here before.
I was looking for something non-rail related and came across the train being there at the right time.
