Found this place a while ago, and it is a neat place for photos from the 50's and 60's. Lots from all over. Quite a few GTW too. In fact the latest up date has GTW out of Detroit, along with long abandon CSS trackage down the middle of the street in Gary, In. Of intrest to me and the GTW fans can chime in, is in the very first photo in the top left, of (IIRC) 5631 is GTW passenger cars in solid Maple Leaf green with noting else but GTW spelled out in gold. First I have seen this, what was that all about?

I love the vanderbilt tenders that GTW used on it's Mountains and Northerns.
Can't help with you passenger car question, sorry.

PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
Re: Great Old Photos
It's really neat to see those South Shore cars in action. Those are very similar (or the same) to the one we have at the Southern Michigan Railroad.
Re: Great Old Photos
That's the pre 1954 paint scheme. In 1954 passenger cars started receiving the black belt below the windows, and the round Maple Leaf heralds.sd70accsxt700 wrote: Of intrest to me and the GTW fans can chime in, is in the very first photo in the top left, of (IIRC) 5631 is GTW passenger cars in solid Maple Leaf green with noting else but GTW spelled out in gold. CN did the same thing.
You might want to get the book; Grand Trunk Western in Color; vol. 1, Steam to Green, 1941 - 1961. by Jerry Pinkepank.
There a lot of photos of that type in that book.

John has a lot of classic photos on RP. I'm surprised you've never seen them on there.sd70accsxt700 wrote:Found this place a while ago, and it is a neat place for photos from the 50's and 60's.

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.
