Re: Where Is It?
...yes. It must be nice having a road so close to the track to chase the LSRC runs to Gaylord, when they run.

Should wait for ConrailDetroit's picture to be officially identified.
While I know where it's at, I will from time to time allow others the chance to find it by their own means.
It's fun to see where they may go
Is the general public allowed to actually see inside that unit?

Put this to rest. It's East Conway, Pennsylvania from Pinney Street Bridge.ConrailDetroit wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 12:49 pmNot Michigan. The state does not share a border with Michigan.

Re: Where Is It?
I’ll guess PatAzo is correct and it was taken at Joy Blvd. Park

Re: Where Is It?
January 1995. Trains still pass here. They arrived in town with the dynamic brake resistors on fire. By the time the conductor shot two fire extinguishers at it and the local fire department arrived the fire had pretty well burnt itself out. But the boys did thorough job anyway.
Re: Where Is It?
Clues. 1) The proximity of the road to the track and the trees faintly poking up behind the 5502 are the best visual clues. Several of you have driven past here and one shot a video very near here. A movie with a railroad scene was shot very near here. The 5502 has been replaced with older locomotives. 2) There is detail in the picture that, with the right internet search, will take you to the town this occurred in.
Re: Where Is It?
Not Hudsonville but the right side of the state. All the vehicles have been replaced. The 5502 with slightly older units. Engine 1012 with a newer truck. The police Caprice with Ford Explorer
Re: Where Is It?
The last passenger trains through here accourding to Railroad1949's research were "nos. 25 and 26...on October 29, 1966."
Gene Hackman rode a freight train through here once.

Re: Where Is It?
Guessing it's on what is currently Marquette Rail between Grand Rapids and either Baldwin or up towards Manistee or Ludington. #25 and #26 were Grand Rapids to Traverse City runs. I'll guess White Cloud.

Re: Where Is It?
You mentioned in a previous Where is it that the Depot Restaurant in Grant has a picture of Gene Hackman standing next to a caboose with some of the train crew. The water tower in Grant staring Gene Hackman was in the 1973 film Scarecrow.
Re: Where Is It?
There is a scene in Scarecrow filmed along the Marquette (then C&O). This is the trailer from Scarecrow.
Jump to 2:59 for the scene that made it into the movie. https://youtu.be/RmOlDDUT6h0 The slightly older power that replaced the 5502 at the same spot. The picture is borrowed from the Thornapple River Rail Series.
