Ep. 442: Train of the Fog: MQT Z151

May 15, 2015 Comstock Park, MI - It is a foggy evening as Z151 heads south from Sparta, MI enroute to interchange with CSX in Grand Rapids

We're at Alpine Avenue for the first shot, followed by an across the field angle as the sun sets between 8 and 9 mile roads

At Vinton, the crew has stopped to tie down most of their train. This is preparation to switch three customers before heading to interchange: Van's Logistics, Michigan Rail & Storage, and Quality Liquid Feed.

Heading south first to Van's, we catch them in Dwight Lydell Park in Comstock Park

After switching, they head back north, crossing the Mill Creek trestle in a shroud of fog down in the valley.

At Michigan Rail, the fog has really set in as they switch out one of the busiest customers on the railroad

Heading back south, we catch them again at the Mill Creek Trestle. So late at night like this, the dark and stillness is mystifying, broken by the spring peepers, and soon enough, the screeching of wheels and the hum of dynamic brakes as the Z151 heads south.
