Catching Up 5/17-5/28

Have gone on a couple expeditions that past couple weeks and instead of making multiple threads, figured I would just make one.

First off, Sunday the 17th, we headed to Waterloo to see some trains. Ended up with 21 trains for the day (1 in Garrett and 1 in Muncie). The two highlights were probably 18A with a brand new SD60E and former UP SD9043MAC and CP 241 with a CEFX AC44CW on point.

Wednesday the 27th was my high school graduation and it also just so happened that the CSX OCS came through town. I nailed them at 47th Street, thanks to some great reporting on this forum.

And finally, the 28th yielded a day trip to eastern Illinois, featuring the towns of Watseka and Woodland Junction. Highlights actually occurred enroute to Watseka and on the way home. We found the eastbound TPW job tied down in Remington with two former ICE units. Not long after, we found another eastbound job idling in Sheldon with quite a lashup, consisting of RCPE, ISRR, and TPW power. Coming back home on IL 46, as we approached the KBS crossing the lights activated. Somehow, we stumbled upon the northbound KBS turn from Lafayette. We gave chase, due to poor pictures at the crossing and ended up with better shots in Iroquois. Not 30 minutes later, we came across the TPW Indiana local returning to Effner with the two TPW SD40-2's and a GP50 rider. A quick U-turn provided shots at the depot at State Line Not too often one stumbles across trains moving on the KBS and TPW in 30 minutes.
