This morning I caught a Inter-Rail group GP7u #2292 switching around TDSI's facility in New Boston (narrated video coming soon). I have never been there while a train is working there (I didn't even know they had their own power), therefore I have a few questions about this engine and the ops there.
1. Does anyone happen to have any records of 2292's past? I know it's former ATSF because it's a U series geep. But what is it's background past its ATSF days?
2. Is it normal for them to be working on weekends?
3. What CSX trains pickup/set-out autoracks there?
4. What manufacturers send their automobiles there for transport?

Re: TDSI ops in New Boston
2292 started as ATSF 712, a GP9.
Looks like they have 10 tracks with availability to spot 15 cars per track. More than adequate to justify a 24/7 operation.
Google imagery from May 2022 looks to have a large variety of automobiles but looks like some Raptors and F-150s from overhead, so at least Ford is involved but could be any of the manufacturers.
As for the CSX trains, somebody else can speak to that.

Is the repowered Alco still on the property?

We have a Railroadfan Wiki page for New Boston Rail Services:

Both GP9u's have been confirmed by the experts at LocoNotes. As far as I know the repowered Alco S2M has never been used.

It's Mostly Ford but I see some Chevy Equinoxes and Dodge Durango/Jeep Grand Cherokees in the lot quite frequently.cfriedri wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 5:53 pm2292 started as ATSF 712, a GP9.

If it is they keep it parked somewhere out of public viewing. You used to be able to see it parked on the spur just south of Northline Rd. but I haven't seen it parked there since the pandemic hit.
