Amtrak Signal Question

Unread post by chapmaja »

I have a question about the signals in and around Dexter / Chelsea. I know the signals at the ends of the Chelsea siding are always lit, but they seem to be the only ones. How long before a train comes do the other signals on the line, such as 44E/44W along Huron River drive become lit?

Sounds like that line has "Approach Lit" wayside (intermediate) signals that stay dark until an approaching train is one signal block away. It will light up when a train passes the signal location before the dark signal (supposed to extend signal bulb life). Controlled sidings & Interlocking signals are always lit.
