I'm curious what the story is with the Southern Pacific car behind 6025. How'd that get there?

If you go back to the post from the first time the geometry train went through I gave the history on that car and who currently owns it.

The first car in his consist is a Southern Pacific car named the Birch Grove. This is an Amtrak compliant sleeper owned by the Cincinnati railway company built by Budd in 1950. Purchased by CSX in 2020.

I've been wondering how the electric power for the W001's Geometry test equipment car is provided. From the Amtrak Station Bangor, Mi video clip, the Baggage car (2nd car in the consist) is seen having vent slots on the end of the car, but, no noticeable exhaust pipe suggesting there is a generator inside this car that produces electrical power. The CSX #6025 is a GP40-2 that was built in Sept 1972 as B&O engine #4125 for freight service, it wouldn't have a Hotel Electrical Power (HEP) generator that's required for passenger cars. The actual Geometry car also shows no evidence of having an exhaust pipe for an on-board electrical generator. Obviously, there is an electrical energy generating source somewhere & that maybe the exhaust system is just cleverly disguised.

IIRC most of the geometry cars have generators mounted on the bottom of the car. The exhaust probably just lets out under the car, too.
