Durand Rail Days Festival

Unread post by MikeB89 »

I'm just wondering if there is going to be anyone attending the Rail Days Festival.

I plan on heading down there Saturday the 14th with my camera gear and planning on railfanning at the station.

Would be cool to know if others are going to be out and about.

I usually take my kids to the carnival. Stop by the station for a bit.

Rail Days was way cooler 30 years ago from what I've seen. A shame we cannot have that anymore.
1223 OUT! President and Founder of the Buck Creek Central, the Rolling River Route! (2012-2017) President and Founder of the Lamberton Valley Railroad, The Tin Plate Road! Proudly railfanning with Asperger's since 1996. :)

If GTW 5632’s cab is open for tours count me in!

The world ain’t the same as 30 years ago. How was it cooler back then?

Maybe 30 years ago Grand Funk Railroad with Mark Farner put on a free show. That would have made it way cooler. 😎

Hell yes we’re coming to your town we’ll help you party it down!
Mark Farner and his American band will be performing on May the 28th in Burton Michigan for the city of Burton’s 50th anniversary celebration.
I say head to Durand rail days and have a great time. I wish I could go but I’ll be working this weekend so have one for me.

Glad to see some will be around.

I'm excited to go. Looks like I will be working Friday night so Saturday morning will be getting a nap in then heading out. My hope is to be in Durand around 2pm at the station.

Sadly I might be cancelling my plans for travels to Durand. I got sick this week and had to have surgery. Ended up getting appendicitis so got my appendix removed. Been about 24 hours out of surgery.

Hopefully some decent action. Also hope the festival is just as lovely. I know tomorrow is a slight severe weather risk so probably not gonna be a good train day anyways.

*marginal risk, Looking like the threat is going to be further north if anything... I'll be gone when it passes through anyway.

Welp, I made it up to Durand. I’m being told that 5632’s cab probably won’t be open because it needs maintenance. :(

Friday was incredibly busy. Sorry for the late response but from 7 am until 8 pm I got 15 trains. 13 CN, 1 GLC, and 1 Amtrak. Also snagged the NB move of L514 in Holly. Great day to be trackside and awesome weather with temps reaching 85 degrees. One of the best days I ever had at Durand. More daylight helps lol

Because the railroads still had the people in high enough places that were willing to participate in the festivities. Didn't the GT and former Bluewater chapter along with the TSBY run passenger trips in coordination with the festival?
