What is the approximate travel time for coal trains between West Olive and the Powder River Basin?
I’m curious because we just had the E804 go west with empties to be loaded on the UP and I am wondering when we will see UP loads returning.

Seems to historically be about a week.

West of Chicago, on BNSF those trains will get a new crew as soon as they arrive at the next crew change typically, so figure every 6-12 hours they're getting another crew and they just keep going. And it's super quick loading too, far faster than unloading. I would hazard a guess that perhaps as much of a third of the time the cars are actually in West Olive. Out west is a conveyor belt!
