Beacon in Traverse City

Unread post by TC Man »

Seems they've been a lot more active shipping via GLC this year so far. They've been shipping about 4-5 loads per week. Early Saturday morning this past weekend they were there about 2am and picked up the leads and dropped off 4 empties. In addition to the usual 2 or so DJJX gons per week there seem to be 4 -5 brand new ITFX gons in a regular rotation (they get spit up, but seem to be the same numbers coming back- right now there are two DJJX cars and ITFX 8189 & ITFX 8174. One of the DJJX cars is already loaded and on the scale (great timing as they were weighing it when I was in view of the scale display- 253,632 pounds).

The 2 ITFX cars appear to be pool cars for Nucor. I can't see who's leasing them but they are round tripping to Nucor in IN

When you travel South on Cass Rd. go one drive past the Beacon sign. This leads to a small parking lot wit a much better view of the operations. I've never been bothered by anyone there.

Beacon in Grand Rapids has been shipping out a lot lately, too. High scrap prices definitely help!
