There is really no Norfolk southern trains on the Michigan line anymore sadly because 38E and 39E were the survivors that went across to and from Elkhart via Detroit to and from Jackson. Now there is just amtraks. 38E and 39E made their final runs in April 2015 according to this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4Yhttps:/ ... cTtghnzSYc

All the locals still run, just no more road trains to Jackson.

So there are no trains that run between Jackson and Elkhart?

How often does (B33- Jackson-Kalmazoo turn) run?

B33 is technically a local... but yes, essentially a road switcher. But it isn't a "road train" like 38E and 39E were. I guess select your lingo and press enter.

I did provide an up to date list above.. the AML stretches from Porter to Dearborn (state owns BO Tower- CP Townline basically) You could also add the GDLK and JAIL trains that run over portions to access yards in Kalamazoo and Jackson respectively. You can catch about 6-8 NS moves between Wayne and Townline a day, and 2-4 west out of Jackson daily. There is still freight, but it moves more efficiently now.

Don't forget the Burns Harbor turns to Decatur and back. They run frequently normally turning at Decatur but occasionally going as far as Lawton. GTW knows their symbol numbers.

B05 is the regular local out of Burns Harbor onto the AML

Speaking of locals on the Michigan Line, I just caught eastbound B33 from Kalamazoo this morning on its way into Jackson Yard at 6:30am with two big C40's up front (9370-9770) towing 74 cars of mixed freight including a good mix of box cars, grain, cushion-coil, empty gons and tanks. It might be considered a local, but with two six-axles up front cruising right along with 74 cars, you could have fooled me.

A quick note on a few of these for those interested.

B16 is the Albion local and leaves Jackson reliably between 2-3pm, usually a little before 2:30. This crew usually switches Jackson Yard in the morning, not sure if they also run down the industrial branch of if that's another crew

B22 goes to BC and usually leaves about an hour after B16, Usually 3:30pm.

Times tend to vary to fit around Amtrak and track crews as needed.

B33 tends to leave Jackson late from what I have seen. Usually right after the eastbound Amtrak goes through, which I think is scheduled for around 10:30pm into Jackson. Returns early morning a ChessieForever mentioned.

There is a 18% chance I have the numbers flipped on B16/B22, but otherwise the info is right, probably.

I find it interesting that the Michigan line was often regarded here as having "one big local" each direction, when in fact a normal weekday has 12-15+ trains crossing Cooper Street.
