Yes but liquid slushing around makes what is already a uneasy trip down a branch line not in the best shape worse.just saying lol

Tank cars are just like any other car and sloshing has little to no impact depending on the commodity. It certainly is not going to cause the car to tip over. Besides, corn syrup barely moves unless it is heated. That's why corn syrup railcars and even trucks must be steamed before unloading depending on how much the product cools down.

The main restriction with excepted track is that you can not have more than 5 hazardous care in a train.

No worries buddy, there is a lot of knowledge on this board and you will find most people are willing to help you learn. There is a good combination of railroad employees, railfans, and people who just know a lot about railroads on this site. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but don't make too many assumptions when it comes to the railroad because its doesn't operate like most industries do.

Billions of ants would be lined up in hopes of a derailment if a corn syrup tank car was coming down that line.

I'm sure the people on the lake would enjoy the lifetime supply as well. Might not like it in the lake, however.

I would every much enjoy watching their reactions if the train went down the line in the middle of the 4th of July afternoon.

Just searched the STB files area...nothing since 4/29/13 that I can find besides the decision to keep the abandonment train rolling. Used Docket AB_1107_0_X

Have I missed something in my search?

Under most circumstances I believe that is true. However, if the tank is only partially full (heavy corn syrup)
and the slack runs in, strange things can happen.

Many years ago when MSO was still privately owned and switching Coldwater I watched them pull three tank cars of tallow (liquefied animal fat) from the rendering plant. As it got closer to me it looked the skin of the car tank was one of those insulated tank cars (looked wrinkly). Closer yet it looked the exterior of the tank car was moving. When it was going by me I could see the tank car was surrounded by those tiny flying gnats or some little pesky bug.

Per STB docket AB_1107_0_X WMI is prohibited from removing bridges, etc from the right of way until December 5, 2013. This in order to give Friends of the Kal-Haven Trail and Van Buren County Board of Park Trustees time to come up with a plan for non-rail use (trail) of the line. A February, 2013 Offer of Financial Assistance (OFA) to purchase the line by an entity named Great Lakes Locomotive, since expired, delayed the abandonment process.

So let me get this part straight: Great Lakes Locomotive was trying to purchase the line, but was unsuccessful and now the line will not be saved?

Great Lakes Locomotive had until May 29, 2013 to submit an offer to purchase the line. They failed to do so. The official abandonment date for the line was June 8, 2013. The trail groups have until December 5, 2013 to come to an agreement with Pioneer regarding trail use.

Great, another rail-to-trail conversion. What happens if the trail groups don't make the deadline?
