How about the west end of the old yard in Sault Ste. Marie?

Could be, I wanna say by Ferrel Gas, and that the track branching off was to one of the old yards or leads to the Cliffs Mine Shaft.

I'll lean to the Manistique crossing. I'd definately say so if you could see where the siding goes.

Could that line thats looks to cross the main, be the old AA car ferry line? Didn't the annie send cars up to Manistuqe for a short period which went up to Dotty where the LS&I would take them?

That would be the former Manistique & Lake Superior, now the lead into Manistique Paper (you can see the other leg of the wye in the top image if you look carefully) that you are referring to. Yes they were part of the Annie family connecting via the carferry and interchanged with the MStP&SSM, DSS&A, and Munising RR (LS&I).

Yes, the M&somethingorother was owned by AA and was used to interchange cars between DSS&A and AA. I think they connected in Singleton.

Anyway, when SOO bought DSS&A the interchange changed to ??? and M&somethingorother closed up for lack of on-line business to support them.

Yes,
That would be the correct local. Manistique has a pretty fascinating rail history with the MStP&SSM, the M&LS, a logging railroad, a furnace railroad, the paper mill railroad, and the carferry.

I walked the old M&LS dock about 10 years ago or so. It'd be nice if they set up a historical marker and display someday.

Its not Menominee, I believe the only Soo Line involvement in Menominee/Marinette was the very brief period after they purchased the Milwaukee Road in 1985 until their little battle with the E&LS ended —historically the twin cities would have been served by the Wisconsin & Michigan, the St Paul, the C&NW, the Ann Arbor (via carferry), and the M&ML&TCo (street car line).
