What a way to treat a rare locomotive... ...I hope the crews are ok and the locomotives hopefully be inspected, repairs made, and be back on the road soon.

Nooooo!!! I can't see the story since I'm not a subscriber on the Trains website, but that's no good. I have some great photos of this rare unit trucking around Springfield switching at Shops Yard and then leading a local job past Ridgeley Tower during its final days in the spring of 2010, right before the signals were cut over, the tracks realigned and another classic tower bit the dust. I hope the damage to crew and locomotive minimal and they're able to repair everything and get it all back on the road.
Re: Something isn't quite right...
Is it possible for someone to post what happened. I also can't see the story for the same reason GP30 can't.GP30M4216 wrote:Nooooo!!! I can't see the story since I'm not a subscriber on the Trains website, but that's no good.

Not too specific on how it happened, just during a switching move.
Description of the damage
Description of the damage
One employee went to the hospital with minor injuriesThe unit's Flexicoil trucks are still attached, but the locomotive suffered damage to its handrails and possibly other appliances. Two tank cars and four covered hoppers behind the locomotive are also on the ground.

This from a local transportation blog.
As for how it happened, I would rather wait until I&M says what happened, if they choose to. Otherwise, why bother? We weren't there, don't have video footage, and it really doesn't matter as long as the railroad knows why the train went on the ground and how to prevent it from happening again.

That thing is cool! I want one! That is like the mullet of locomotives. Business in the front and party in the back.
Re: Something isn't quite right...
What is the current status of this unit? Has it returned to service?
