INE SD70M's

Unread post by chapmaja »

I saw some pictures of SD70M's the Indiana Northeastern supposedly acquired during the summer of 2023. Ex-UP units 4670 and 4379. The caption said they were still being worked on. Does anything know if they have been activated to service?

Reportedly, they are still in the shop in Hudson. There's a INER community group on Facebook. That's the best place to keep track of the latest news.

Looks like a photo from this summer. Could be of the engine in transit. In any case, I haven't seen any recent photos of the engines in service.

I have seen videos of that unit in service, just not currently painted. It was running.

Did you mean LSRC's SD50-2's? GLC doesn't have any SD50's.

That doesn't make any sense. The SD70M's with their radial trucks would be FAR easier on track, especially questionable sidings than the either of the trucks used on SD50's, and I fail to see what difference it would make as far as one or the other leading. There isn't a whole lot of difference in the weight of the two models either.

UP removed the radial steering linkages from all of their SD70Ms years ago.

I was under the impression those trucks still had a certain amount of radial movement even with the linkage removed, and even if they don't, I can't imagine them being any worse than the SD50 trucks.

I copied and pasted this into a grammar bot and it spit this out:
Its not a person who knows a person, lol. I know their lady in office, which is their dispatch. I have known her for a little over 2 years now. She tells me their schedule and when trains are running, and two of their engineers that work out of Hillsdale. I am really good friends with, and one of their conductors is my brother's friend. I have met him, and there is another conductor. I know he works out of Hamilton and lives in Waterloo. I met him on July 4th. He used to work in the shops in Hudson. He was the one who worked on the SD70M's.
If it's right, at least now I can tell better who he is referring to, the part about the brother's friend, and the right usage of "their". Hope that helps others.
