From what I am reading on Facebook, it appears that NS train 10R has derailed west of South Bend, near Lydick, near Country Club Road. It appears some cars went down the embankment between Quince Rd. and Country Club Rd. Of course this happens when I'm out of town, or I'd go check it out.

Maybe they can detour up the Amtrak line from Porter? Not THAT far fetched.....or the FW&E? I guess that could be a more viable option.

30 made it through Elkhart 49 minutes late. Not far from the usual lateness.

Not sure when they got Track 1 back open, but by the time I got home around 1930 CT ATCS was indicating a busy railroad between Chicago and Elkhart, with at least Main 1 open between CP 488 and CP 437.

As of midnight central time, the track occupancy on Main 2 is gone, but trains are still be routed down Main 1 only.
