That is what I would expect with Amtrak control of the siding. I will take a look at my logs from today (watching CP 498)

And with this. You may mark the Indiana Gateway Project COMPLETE.
There of course still stuff planned. But they are part of other projects or just straight up NS money.
All of it really has had a big impact in the area. Though perhaps with traffic down, that impact is hard to gauge.

I can't think of any reason as we stand that Amtrak needs to do anything at the moment. I haven't seen any Amtrak delays on NS in the NW Indiana area.

They just sent an EB thru the new pine siding all the way from 501 to 497.

That they did. All I need is a WB to confirm that signal.

As for Amtrak CP 238, I verified both EB and WB moves, with the EB move not showing 8WA (which makes sense since NS doesn't care about it any more). The Amtrak dispatcher's command at CP 238 must be integrated with the NS dispatcher. Both the 7WGZ and 7WGK bits are still active.

North/East bounds now disappear completely from 482 indications once they clear the Amtrak CP at the south end of the siding
I observed that change a few months ago. I have it encoded on my ATSC display as three track occupancies (one for CP482 to CP 239, one for just east of CP 239, and one for westbounds between 11th St Michigan city and that second segment). I also have two directional flags encoded, one for westbounds out of Michigan City and one for westbounds at CP 239.

I have not looked at CP 482 lately to see if anything changed. My observations were from the summer after the siding was physically complete and the signals were lit. I was in Michigan City for a couple of westbound trains and in Porter for a few more, so I could physically see where the train was when the codes changed on ATSC.

I'll have to look to see if the code is different - and at some point take a road trip to verify train location at code change.

It looks like NS cleared a WB at 8:06pm CT and it passed through about half an hour later.
The codeline looks fairly straight forward for CP 498.

(And just as I write write that K14 goes high without K16 or K35. Gotta keep watching.)

I didn't see that K14.

I will post the kit as soon as Yahoo Groups stops giving me error messages when uploading.

I looked at tonight's CP 482 codes and they match what I saw a few months ago.

Effective May 28, 2016, the following speed changes are
in effect:

Pine Siding between CP 497 & CP 501: Passenger 45mph &
Freight 40mph.

Remains 10mph slow order until a set amount of tonnage runs, then it's 20mph until C&S can test Clark road crossing.

Is that date correct? You posted the speed back in August for 501 to 500.

I assume you mean the old connection to Track 1 east of Clark Rd ... with the switch on the siding west of Clark Rd being the timed release switch mentioned in the recent post.

That's probably the final speed limit, after all of the work is done.

I believe the connection to the yard is not complete. There is a manual derail on the lead track (which runs parallel to the main lines) and I did not see any sign of a turnout on the yard lead from CN.

I notice from the ATCS board display a reference to the removal of the Fort Wayne Sec. connection at CP 501.
If this is the case, how do CFE trains get into Chicago?
Thanks!
Andy

They turn onto the IHB at Tolleston and yard on the IHB. In fact I don't think the tolleston diamond was restored.

There's a diamond at the junction and approach signals ready, but its not installed
NS trains to Kirk Yard can use the Porter Branch and a connection to go west on the PRR then shift over to the Wabash and another track near Clark Rd

According to a reliable source, CP 498 is no longer showing Out Of Service for the switch and lead into Pine Yard.

I need to get over there and see if the lead connecting to Pine Yard is visible. I believe there should be a new turnout just east of the fence between NS and CN ... but there was no sign of it at the beginning of November.
