It is interesting that even signals where the next signal is an intermediate (CP 490 EB, CP 487 WB, CP 507 WB 1 and 2) have a third head.

BTW: CP 498 on Pine Siding (under construction) has two heads in both directions (cantilever EB, mast WB).

Test addresses flying around.

Suspected Chicago Line test addresses
75508800070202 56 bit BCP, 80 bit MCP. Most likely the new CP 501 8 switch bits.
75508800170202 64 bit BCP, 96 bit MCP. Big sucker. 017 code line address would perhaps match up with CP 502? It is 64 and 80 right now. 6 switch bits. Did not know a new CP502 was in the works.
75508800210202 32 bit MCP, no BCP broadcasts yet. Probably 500
75508800220202 24 bit MCP, no BCP broadcasts yet. Probably 498

That doesn't even include the Lake stuff flying around today.

Next steps.

Effective 3:01 A.M., Tuesday, 07-26-16, the following
signal changes will be placed in service.

Retire the existing 4991E, 4991W, 4992E and 4992W
signals located at MP CD 499.1 in its entirety.

New Westward 4981W and 4982W Signals located at on a cantilever mast at MP CD 498.8
New Westward 4981E and 4982E Signals located at on a cantilever mast at MP CD 498.8

Electric Lock Mechanism has been installed at the following locations The approach locking has been removed and will be time locking only.

1. East End Pine Yard switch located on Main 1 Track,
Mile Post CD 499.1 Predetermined Time Interval Time 9 Min. 15 Sec.
1. West End Pine Yard switch located on Main 1 Track,

It's neat watching some of these moves! This is Chicago West clearing the way for Amtrak 48, who is on main 1 in the first picture.

All that they have to do next is to add/activate the EBCS for the Pine Siding track to that cantilever for CP 499 operation.

It should. 4991E/W would be in the way of the new siding extension.

It will be interesting to see when 501 goes live and 497 starts sending trains to Pine Yard instead of the old manual switch.
502 received new signals separately from Indiana Gateway. I'd like to see the code reworked for 503 as well.

Yeah the new 502 is a surprise. Probably should start a new thread for that, or put it in our Chicago Line PTC thread.

Thank you for the updates ... It is interesting to see that they are keeping the 1 3 2 4 track numbering.

Show shut off time for 501(446) at 22:10 hours

Guess they started a bit early. Traffic does look a bit light. But just as I say that. Here comes an Amtrak

New CP 501 turned out to be 80 bits
New CP 502 turned out to be 96 bits
(Reusing old addresses at both locations.)

Staying tuned for CP 500 later this week.

CP 501 turned out interesting. I have not figured out all of the bits, but I believe I have the switches, signals, TK segments, switch locks, OOS and approaches. I was surprised by the number of TK segments ... five would have been a minimum. But I see eight TKs active. The OOS bits are a nice addition.

Well surprise surprise. 500 and 498 came on around 8am this morning.

No bits are changing, so I suspect with them being on an OOS lead, they get configured in a more leisurely manner.

They might as well test the radios.

Must be doing track work up there. The pine leads off 501 and 497 are shunting off and on today.

But no corresponding bits change at 498 and 500. I am guessing the radios are on, the interlocking is running, but the wires are not connecting to anything yet.

That seems to be the addition. The track work must have been successful.

It will be interesting to see how much traffic Pine Yard gets, now that we can see both ends on NS (and not have to try to guess from disappearing and appearing trains).
