PROPOSED ETHANOL PIPELINE
Re: PROPOSED ETHENOL PIPELINE
OMGosh yes. Look what the pipeline has done to other petroleum products that traditional went by rail. It could reduce it to a trickle of what it is now.
Of course, the construction would potentially mean thousands of railcars with pipe.

Re: PROPOSED ETHENOL PIPELINE
Congress has to change the rules so the project can qualify for a federal loan guarantee. That means you and I get to pay when it fails If the bankers and big oil don't want to bankroll it, it's not a good business deal.

Re: PROPOSED ETHENOL PIPELINE
correct me if im wrong, but isnt ethenol fairly corrosive. Which if that is the case, this is going to be one pricey pipeline. Because that means its going to need to be made out of stainless steel.

Re: PROPOSED ETHENOL PIPELINE
It appears the biggest problem is it's affinity for water which makes the pipeline a single product pipe line (unlike a petroleum pipeline which can handle multiple products). Corrosion may be a problem http://www.enewsbuilder.net/aopl/e_article000570935.cfm but based on the info in the article, it may affect all steel.JDavis21835 wrote:correct me if im wrong, but isnt ethenol fairly corrosive.
