Interurban/Trolley Car

Unread post by bluestreak81 »

Looking to acquire or have a pre-1925 era interurban car donated for a display. This would be for a small museum in northeast Ohio that is dedicated to preserving and educating individuals on the history that interurbans had on the development of the area. We have 150 feet or more of track on display with an original wooden structure interurban station. We would build a shelter for preservation of the car. We are a small group but are very dedicated individuals. The condition of the car is not important as long as it is salvageable. Ideally, the car would be native to Ohio.

I recommend you reach out to the Ohio Railway Museum in Worthington or the Northern Ohio Railway Museum south of Cleveland. Both have collections which include interurban equipment native to Ohio and perhaps more equipment than they may ever be able to stabilize or restore in the near term. There’s also a group around the Dayton area that is restoring an interurban and might have a couple additional for parts or future plans. You might also reach out to the Illinois Railway Museum, their largest collection on the continent is impressive but you never know what they might be willing to part with if the right agreement can be struck.
