Further details on that weird looking railroad crossing gate on the east side of Willipie Street (former US-25) in Wapakoneta that I saw when I was eight years old on June 5, 1957, That gate was south of the B&O RR double tracks that goes southwest to Northeast. The gate had cable or wire wrapped around the wishbone crossing gate arm. Also, there was another railroad gate on the old Big Four Route (now New York Central RR) St. Mary's branch at the crossing with Willipie Street, That branch line ran between Bellefontaine, OH and Grand Lake St. Mary's until its abandoned and ripped up along with the removal of the NYC RR crossing gates in 1976. That branch line is a mile south of the B&O RR crossing in Wapa. Anyone lives or lived in the Wapakoneta area saw these crossings back in the 1950's? Any vintage photos of these 1950's crossing gates? I wonder Jaw Tooth know about that weird gates.
