Proposed Railroad Communications Tower West of Toledo

Unread post by GlassCityPhotos »

FYI, there is a public notice in the business section of today's Toledo Blade for a proposed 120' railroad communication tower west of Toledo. The proposed tower (#46508) will be 300' west of the intersection of S Crissey Road and Old Airport Highway within the existing railroad right-of-way. Although the railroad is not mentioned in the notice, it is a safe bet that it is Norfolk Southern as this site is along its Chicago line. A quick look at Google Earth shows there is already a smaller tower in the vicinity of the proposed site.

Apparently similar public notices were scattered throughout today's Blade. There are also notices for two more towers in the paper's main section. The first is for a 165' tower further west of Toledo in Wauseon, Ohio and the second is for a 165' tower just east of Toledo near Owens and Walbridge roads in Northwood, Ohio. Both of these sites are also along the NS Chicago line.

Most likely to support PTC. I'd think they're not going to have the siting issues that the western carriers are having with Native American groups.

Not sure if NS uses the same system for Electra Code. CSX has these towers at Hicksville Defiance Deshler and just west of Fostoria for Electra Code.
