But the creativity on your piece coupled with the correct color scheme (simple, easy to apply with decals) makes it a good choice & fit for that type of shortline. At the very least management will probably get a laugh or two.

Some of the greatest inventions were made by the same sort of over-breakfast/break doodles on napkins. Some of the biggest PR campaigns have been based on extra-corporation ideas/designs. Remember the NS heritage units?

Eastbound brushcutter/mower (a newer Ford tractor with hy-rail wheels) was near the SR 281 crossing east of Defiance around 1:30pm today. Also, the crew was switching in Defiance with CNUR 5. Good size tie piles are next to the tracks at the yard, in Okolona, and in Napoleon.

I like it too. Go for it and keep us posted.

It's neat but I still wouldn't send it in but that is just me. I can hear guys say "Look at how these crazy foamers want us to paint up our stuff" and everyone making snide and rude comments. I know if someone sent me an email at work with a new logo for our solar stuff I would just laugh and not give it the time of day and wonder why someone else cares who is not vested in the company. I would think it was weird.

Yep, that's exactly WHY I didn't create it to send in to begin with...this is simply for fun folks. Pioneer Rail has their own marketing folks and a unified logo to which no amount of influence, external or otherwise, will likely change.

I mocked it up as a pun on the track issue (I mean, really)...there was never an intent to send it to Pioneer Rail, nor did the thought seriously cross my mind. The only reason I'd even remotely consider it is my involvement in regional economic development, but even then, I am hardly qualified as a marketing person. If someone from Pioneer Rail stumbles upon it, likes the image, so be it, they can find me if they really tried.

Regardless, it was fun to create...makes a dandy HO scale scheme!

Seriously, as a railfan who doesn't foam and is seeking employment with a railroad, just don't play on the sterotypes rails have of railfans.

NS 4154 and NS 4148 are to be picked up by CSX today from NS at Lima, and are to be forwarded to Defiance on Q500 later today. When they get to interchange at FC is still a guess.

They were handed over this morning and I got the video to prove it! Brrrrr it was cold waiting for them though.

I heard NS 8103 and 1070 were going to be used by the ND&W.

The ND&W got PREX GP20 3054 today. Has a very attractive Reading diamond inspired Pioneer Lines logo on it, very nice.

I agree. Very nice and a huge improvement from the past Pioneer units:

Oooh... might need to make a trip down there soon to get photos of that!

The Santa Fe heritage continues on the ND&W with that GP20.... Hard to believe the GP20s were premium power for the old Sante Fe at one time.
