Glad to see the Fort Wayne Railfan board back up. A few ND&W threads:

That 10 miles of new #136 rail and trackwork is going to look pretty awesome compared to what everyone's used to.

Truly incredible to see that new rail, ballast and ties down on that stretch. 25mph is gonna feel like doing 80 for those guys on that stretch of rail.

New video where the track doesn't look as bad as once did.

"The have been updating the tracks on this line but it is hard to tell."
So what explains the pile of crap ties that have been replaced and the pile of empty spike buckets?
Not once did it appear to me that something was going to derail.

Why do people ruin their own videos by making such unfounded statements?
I'm not shooting the messenger :)

Most of this footage was taken on the track that's owned by LafargeHolcim not the ND&W.

FYI Until this recent update by ND&W our tracks(lafarge) looked far better than theirs HAHAHA The old Cinn Northern part that we own has held up very well. We spend quite a bit on our tracks every year

I'd think this would be located more towards the North. Near the 127/224 interchange myself.

So from the switch at Cecil down to the plant is all LaFarge track?

According to Google Earth, there is an existing old rail bed going northeast from Cecil. Three thousand feet of new track gets it nicely up to the county road with room to spare. I imagine rehabbing the old rail bed would be cheaper than building new. There is also a siding east of Cecil that is near the interchange. Something in that area would be convenient.
Trails to Rails. Put the track back.

That would be the former roadbed of the CN/NYC/PC/CR. And yes it would be an excellent alternative to grading/building new roadbed. Ken

I can't imagine them using the old Cincinnati Northern roadbed north of Cecil. Yes, the roadbed does exist, but the roads into town would take a beating from whatever trucks that would load/unload there. I'd think it'd make much more sense to be near either 127 or old 24 somewhere. For what it's worth, the transload in Napoleon doesn't see much use, but with that being a "freebie" in exchange for not going to Liberty Center anymore, it was worth it.

I saw a train in Cecil, OH with "Mazon" on our Indiana trip! The tracks were still "Rickety" between here and west through Woodburn, IN, December 21, 2021! We caught a train turning south and that was our last train of 2021! OK, how much total trackage is no longer Rickety?" :?: Where are the locations of the worst track with wavy rail still? Amazing it has taken so long to rehab this Shortline!!!! Well, I read in Trains Magazine® that Pioneer Railcorp® has been bought out in 2019! They were purchased by Brookhaven Rail Partners® and they renamed it "Pioneer Lines®" (as seen on the re-painted ex ATSF GP20 #3001)!!!! Here's an article about that: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-release ... 52180.html

On the Indiana trip I noticed they were replacing rail to the Kraft® plant on the Kendalville Terminal®! Maybe the new Pioneer® is more serious in maintenance! Too bad the ex Algoma Central® F-units are being stored on Keokuk Junction Railway®!!!! Their last run happened in August 2019! I have never even seen this railroad!!!! :(
I hope at some point they will bring the F-units back or that they are visible from public property! Does anyone here know the status of those ex AC F-units? :?:
Here's the video from 8-4-2019 showing Keokuk Junction®'s last running F-units (© Runnin' Eight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTSpPAJUUHE

Most of the roads in town are already crap anyway so maybe it would force some much needed improvements :D

Pioneer is reporting on LinkedIn another new customer in Defiance. APackaging. It looks like a smaller building and will probably receive plastic pellets.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
