Way to make a positive impression of the local railfans with the new ownership.

I never said money would not exchange hands. Was going to offer a considerable amount for the MAW sign off the offices till I realized I have no place to put a 16 foot long sign.

Thought it was strange to be advertising the "liberation" of signs & such. Nevermind, carry on...

I would love to get one of the IHRC signs off the 4th street viaduct but I don't know if that will ever happen.

Too cold for me to have the will to go look ;) They have been working between Domersville and Carpenter today and yesterday, one of their biggest bad spots.

Living in FL I keep forgetting how cold it gets up there in OH. I've been enjoying the coverage of the NDnW from all of you. Next time I'm up that way I will definitely go get some shots! :D

The return of NS power on the Fifth District is nearly over. The 4148 left today and the 4154 will likely leave in the next few days. PREX 1601 will be delivered to the ND&W by Y101 tomorrow.

20 or -10 I was still going railfanning today. Since we were in Defiance I will give an update. 1601 has arrived at the CSX yard. Me and my wife waited 2 hours for the train CSX was building to head east(I didn't hear the symbol). It was hauling 4148 back to home rails. I figure NS 4154 hasn't got long since the ND&W has 3 of their own locomotives in Defiance now. 3054 was tied down on the main in Napoleon but crew was done for the day (about 4:30pm) The tie stuffer was stuffing on the west side of Napoleon just past the bridge.

Caught 11 trains today so big trip report in the making when the video is up!

If it went east, that was likely either Q501 or Q508... I would think that since it came from Lima, it's going to Toledo on Q508 and then Lima on Q507, unless Q501 was running extremely late as that's usually a middle of the night train through here. Then again, could just go back to NS in Toledo. I suppose that's easier.

Unless something changed, Q501 doesn't work Defiance.

Q500 and Q501 only work Defiance when they're dropping off or picking up special loads/engines. For example, I shot a Q500 last year that dropped a unit off for Y101, and Q500 dropped off the two NS GP38AC's when they first came to the ND&W. I've also seen Q501 drop off a "hot car" for GM, which turned out to be a boxcar loaded with parts for a new mechanism they were constructing awhile back.
