I would like to do 24 hours in Berea.....Can anyone tell me if I can park near the depot all night long without an issue? Safe neighborhood? Never been to Berea before to know......Thanks in advance!

You should be able to park and stay in the parking lot near the station with no issue. The nearest houses are all the way on the other side of the two main lines and it's not a seedy area. There are only businesses on Depot St.

I've stayed over night a few times without a single police check up, and have never felt unsafe. Railfans are understood there, at least more so than other locations. Please let us know the results! Last time I was there on 11/12/10 I caught 113 total. 61 NS, 47 CSX, 4 Amtrak, 1 Wheeling.

One other thing. If you have a scanner, be sure to have these frequencies programmed into it:

160.860 (CSX Road Channel)
160.800 (CSX IG Dispatcher)
161.070 (NS Cleveland Terminal)
160.980 (NS Toledo East)
