With CSX being forced to eliminate all remaining regularly-scheduled trains on a 28-mile stretch of the Plymouth Subdivsion between Howell and Plymouth in Michigan due to budget cuts in early 2016, a startup called the Howell & Plymouth Railroad purchased the Plymouth Subdivision between the two towns in order to save it from impenetrable abandonment, along with three freshly-retired ex-CSX B40-8s and B20-8s, and in return gave CSX trackage rights.

The Howell & Plymouth Railroad interchanges with CSX at both ends and also interchanges with Great Lakes Central in Howell.

Do you need 14 engines?

And I also like Red Green :)

This is to ensure that the H&P still has enough spares in case one of these engines has to go in for maintenance. A shop has been built in Plymouth to accommodate them.

You can probably get by with a pair of road engines and one spare.

The Howell & Plymouth currently runs a single daily train, L1. It originates from the CSX Plymouth Yard and switches every industry between there and the H&P/CSX/GLC interchange track in Howell.

If you're looking to railfan Dash 8s doing local jobs, this is the train for you.

Today's L1 was pulled by H&P 2.

H&P 3 did L1's duties today.

Should we consider adding a second train?
