Re: Marquette Rail
Received word today that the DuPont chemical plant in Montague, MI will close effective July 31. With no remaining customers on the line, nor none expressed interest, MQT will petition to abandon the Montage Industrial Branch north of Barry Jct.

I am the founder, president, and CEO of the new holding company Great Lakes Company Holdings, LLC, as well as the new primary shareholder of Canadian National Railway. Since we need some profit, can we purchase lines from Flint to Toledo and Lansing to Detroit? Don't worry, I purchased all of the former GTW trackage to GLCH, and we can give you trackage rights on it. Thanks.
Here's the new thread to GLCH:

I'll keep it short: No. They're too important on our system.59caddy wrote:I am the founder, president, and CEO of the new holding company Great Lakes Company Holdings, LLC, as well as the new primary shareholder of Canadian National Railway. Re: Marquette Rail
A pedestrian was struck and killed by M-TOLGRR2-26 yesterday near Lansing. The person was struck at a crossing, apparently trying to beat the 9,432 ton train. The incident snarled traffic on the Plymouth Sub, in fact we had to combine trains to save space. M-TOLGRR numbers 1 & 2 from the 27th have been combined for a massive 206-car, 15,000ft, 16,000 ton monster powered by 2 SD70ACes, 3 SD70MACs, and 3 SD40-3s on DPU duty. She's currently at Trowbridge waiting for a CN train to clear, then they'll unlock the 10 crossings they're blocking.
Re: Marquette Rail
If we can't have the Plymouth Sub from Lansing, can we take up on your offer to cfriedri you did a while back on the AA thread where he could have your Detroit ops? What is the extent of trackage in this offer?

Re: Marquette Rail
You get the MQT portion of the CR Shared Assets (we got from CSX), and the local traffic on the old MQT lines. It is everything east of Milepost 23 on the Plymouth Sub. However, MQT retains intermodal rights at Rougemere (currently one train each way), and all Passenger Rights (no current ops). You also have trackage rights down the Saginaw Sub to Toledo if you need it for a ton-mile fee.59caddy wrote:If we can't have the Plymouth Sub from Lansing, can we take up on your offer to cfriedri you did a while back on the AA thread where he could have your Detroit ops? It is a 10-year lease, option to buy the lines. What you're basically getting now is trackage/haulage rights.
Re: Marquette Rail
Okay, I'll do it. Forgive my lack of knowledge ( ), but where is milepost 23? This sounds like a good plan.MQT3001 wrote:You get the MQT portion of the CR Shared Assets (we got from CSX), and the local traffic on the old MQT lines. I think I will also make use of your offer down to Toledo at one point or another.

Re: Marquette Rail
Milepost 23 is just east of the diamonds in Plymouth (Milepost 24.5). FYI, the Detroit Commuter Rail thing runs on the Detroit Sub (Plymouth to Rougemere). Check the Mo-Town Rail thread for that. Basically, they run some trains you can't get in the way of, but it is only a few.59caddy wrote:Okay, I'll do it. Forgive my lack of knowledge ( ), but where is milepost 23? Your rights to Toledo via the Saginaw Sub are good for 8,000 tons per day each way, then a ton-mile fee.
Remember, any passenger ops must be run by us first before it is run.
Do you want us to dispatch the line for now? This agreement goes into effect and you have ops on 6-1-13 at midnight, but we can dispatch longer if need be.

Re: Marquette Rail
Can you still run a local into Rougemere, MQT? The DSR interchanges with you there.

Re: Marquette Rail
Marquette is leasing it's Detroit-area assets to startup Great Lakes Transportation. All Lines east of Milepost 23 on the Detroit sub are under this agreement. Under the plan, Marquette retains 100% of Detroit Intermodal and Passenger Rights, and maintains trackage rights between Plymouth and Delray. The agreement goes into effect on 6-1-13 at midnight, and is good for 10 years. There is an option to buy after 5 years.
Marquette personnel have been offered jobs at the new company, and can tryout there for 12 months, and return to MQT with full seniority anytime in that span, or stay right with MQT and be re-assigned.
Motive power will be moved out on 6-1.

Re: Marquette Rail
We can actually setup something at Carleton. We'd have to install a connector and siding in the NW quadrant, but it can be done for only 125k, since much of the groundwork is still in place from an old connector there years ago.heartlandguy wrote:Can you still run a local into Rougemere, MQT? Re: Marquette Rail
Rail does not need to be huge, it's only class 1 because it's a yard track. It will be a 300' connection, then two 1,000' interchange tracks down the DSRR on the northside. We will put in our switch, if you have the other, and we'll each wire up our own signal systems. IDK if you have one, we do on the MQT side.heartlandguy wrote:Alright, that works then! We do have a signal system. The line is CTC from Diann to Detroit, and is controlled from Diann Tower. We'll take care of the other switches and the signals on our side. Any time you want to start this?

Okedokee. Lets start this weekend if you can manage. We'll just dump ballast and bring some people and machines if you need them.

Re: Marquette Rail
C-BUFWOL-28, Marquette for CIL 833, rounded the curve at CP Hoosier at 15:25 EDT. Arrived in New Buffalo at 14:01, and once recrewed they took off north, well sorta. Waited for one at New Buffalo, siding to main at 16:31. Then got put into the hole at Sawyer for another one, siding to main at 17:15. They got by Livingston alright, before meeting 3 at Riverside, and just going Main 2 to single main at 19:05. They're meeting M-GRRCHI2 at Kirk, who is in the hole, then will take the siding themselves at Gross for PCHIGRR-28 eastward, then for PGRRCHI-28 as well as they come west after hopefully a rolling meet at Grand Junction.
