Even though we already have heritage units, we are saving MNTX 503 and MNTX 504 for a diesel heritage, 503 will recieve B&O Blue, grey, dark grey. 504 will wear WM Red, White, black Circus scheme. These will be the only heritage units on the diesel roster. But the are 2 more additions to our list of special interest locomotives. They join B&O (Chessie System) GM50, B&O 52a and 52b, C&O 500, and the steam heritage roster.* 503 and 504 will begin operation in May.

*GM50 is being restored from CSX 6063.
*C&O 500 is currently under reconstruction.

Press Release:

The M&N and CSX are proposing a new, jointly owned railroad that will run between Baltimore and Pittsburg. CSX and the M&N are bringing back the famed Chessie System as a shared assets railroad. The new Chessie will only own a small section of the M&N system, the ex-B&O Old Main Line (MN Baltimore Division.) CSX is backing the new Chessie financially, but the M&N will be the owner. The motivepower will still wear the familiar Yellow, blue, Vermillion of the orignal scheme. For more info or if there are any questions, post on this thread or PM me.

The STB has agreed to the creation of a jointly owned railroad between the M&N and CSX transportation. This railroad is a resurection of the famed Chessie System. The new Chessie System will retain the famous Yellow paintscheme, but on GEVos and SD70ACes supplied by CSX. CSX has agreed to financing the Chessie, while the M&N will own equipment and trackage. The first Chessie locomotive will arrive later this month and the new base of operations will be in our office building in Baltimore, MD. Chessie will operate its own trains, but they will run on M&N trackage. This is basically how the M&N was formed in 1962 by the B&O and the WM.

Defect Detector at MP 10.8 (from Mt.Clare yard). Chessie MP 12.3 (from CSX interchange).
For M&N BCF-1:
"MN detector, milepost 10.8, no defects...no defects. MN detector, milepost 10.8, no defects. Detector out."

For Chessie (different frequency)
"Chessie detector, Milepost 12.3, no defects...no defect. detector out.

great thanks, we'll have Chessie pick it up on the way back. What was it like to have WM engines repaired in the ex-WM shops? Time warp?

MNTX 502 will be cut off from Chessie CB-12 due to mechanical problems. 502 will be replaced with CSX 7782. #502 will be inspected/repaired in the Martinsburg Machine shops.

"BCF-1 to Cumberland Dispatch."
"CD here go ahead."
"We overheard Chessie's problem. They passed us a few minutes ago. I heard it, it did sound like the turbo failing."
"Ok, thanks for the help."
"no problem, i was in the mechanic department for awhile before applying for conductors position. I recognize that sound."
"I'll tell CB-12 that, CD out."
"glad to help, BCF-1, MNTX 5500 out."
"Ooh, you guys got the big guns."
"yep."
"haha, CD clear."

We delivered the first 5 new Chessie units. They are old Chessie GP40-2s but have been restored and are now the new Chessies units. They still wear their original paint scheme with either B&O or C&O subletters. They will be in service tomorrow. The last 15 GP40-2s will arrive in 3 batchs of 5 from CSX. GM50 is almost complete. Chessie ES44AC 4000 is nearing completion, it is in the paint shop and has been masked off for the first coat of Blue. The paint department is now resizing the famous Chess-C shilouette for the GEVos wide cab.

WM (MNTX) SD35 3579 is in full WM Circus scheme. WM (MNTX) BL2s 81 and 82 are in full WM Speed Lettering. 81 and 82 will serve Evitts creek yard in Cumberland. Sd35 3579 will be assigned to active road service.

Starting May 20, all steam will return to service. The diesels will serve out of Pittsburg to run west to Chicago. The steamers will recieve new lettering. Instead of the numbers on the tender and reporting marks on the cab, the name will be spelled out on the tender sides and the numbers will be on the cab. Also, train ID boards will be installed on the road engines. GPS systems will be installed.

Press Release: M&N Board of Operations.

Balitmore, MD: "Over the last several months, we have been running diesel-electric locomotives because of a EPA mandate against coal-fired locomotives. Fortunately, the men and women that make up our locomotive repair personnel have made a breakthrough that will bring back our famous all steam roster. A special filter, installed in the smokeboxes of our steam engines will prevent cinders and excess carbon from entering the atmosphere. All of our engines have had this filter installed and has been proven to help limit the harmful emissions that a steam engine releases. With that being said, the steamers will return to active service over the next weeks. Our diesels will still operate but only on the jointly owned trackage to Chicago, Il. All lines between Washington DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburg will have steam power again. New engines will be joining the roster, more of our revolutionary NGS-series locomotives will be built and a high-horsepower engine, the Y7a, will be hauling more coal trains out of Pennsylvania for export and power generation. We will have another Press Release in 2 weeks about future projects and motivepower."
