Currently heading south. Just heard them blowing at 44th, I believe (and now their horn is more faint).
Correct, definitely heading southbound. Their loud horn is heard in Wyoming/Cutlerville area now at 7:41pm

Maybe 20 plus cars. I can hear the rumble of the engines at Cutlerville

Scroll back to 07:17 AM and you’ll see WB L501 on the head end. After a few racks, one asphalt tank car from Watco in Lansing and some more racks you see the 19 cars that JAIL set off for CN on Monday. 12 coil cars, 5 scrap loads from Padnos and 2 corn oil tank cars loaded from The Andersons transload.

Train will be visible until 19:17 today.

When JAIL started operating this line the CN interchange there at the end of the Manufacturers Railroad Branch wasn't even officially recognized as one for some reason. There was no reason to go that far at first, Saginaw Yard being about it for trains if even that far (until the car storage started up). Then one day we got a call that there has been a box full of paper sitting on the CN interchange for a week for the box company in Mason that we didn't know about. We went down there and got it. By accident we returned the empty to NS in Jackson instead of CN here and had to take delivery of it again! There were maybe just one or two more cars interchanged there that first year.

It is a hard location for interchange unless CN has let JAIL do it differently than before. There was one track of Hallow Yard alongside the CN main used for the interchange and it didn't hold too many cars. And it was uphill. And the lead to reach it was short (the interchange track was out of service from the west/north end of Hallow Yard at the time). Maybe they now leave the interchange on that CN track on the north end, what was it called, the Industrial Track?, that they used to use to deliver coal to the Power Plant there?

So I am glad this has become an important interchange for JAIL. And what a mix of freight too.

Thank you

I understand why Wilkenson moved its transload from Lapeer to Millington. When they were at Lapeer my understand is they had a pool of about five cars. The expanded that to around 20-25 and it may only get larger as they increase production. The 10 cars staged for loading in Millington took up quite a bit of space and I do not think they would have fit in Lapeer.

Thanks, I can not see the engine numbers from where I am. So I reply on others in the area for the numbers or if I’m lucky to report out in the field
