I’m curious why they put the DPU around position 30 ish on a relative shorter train for M326.

I’m betting they will transfer those 90 grain cars to Marquette Rail to pull it north like last time with 87 grain cars

Because according to CSX's operating plan, every train must run with a DPU if both locomotives are equipped with DPU. DPU placement in the train depends on the number of loads and empties, you don't want a DPU shoving against a bunch of empty cars.

L303-24 had almost 100 cars when going thru Howell yesterday. Later, L302-24 by Howell at 21:53 with 3275+5407 on the head end and 59 cars. Overnight, the same crew on the G077-21 train that spotted the empty G804-18 train in Webberville from Tuesday by 07:22 Friday morning, was back by 01:40 this morning to build and take the loads out. Confused? They went east by Howell at 04:43 as G803-24 with 991+123 on the head end and 90 cars. The B235 Potash train with CP power for Webberville still sits in Plymouth.

I understand if both engines are equipped with DPU. Why was this specific one have mid dpu compared to other M326s? Last 3 M326s, all engines were head end.

Betting #8900 is leading M327-25. If you have time, could you count the cars?
