Amtrak 353 is powered by a GE Genesis locomotive this morning. I heard it coming with its thump thump exhaust before I saw it. It left Pontiac a couple minutes late.

355 struck a pair of trespassers at 7:04p near Ann Arbor mp 36.2. Both were alive, EMS has taken them to hospital. Waiting for management and investigation at this time.

And 354 was two hours late arriving at Pontiac last night, I presume because of this accident. 351 has not left Pontiac yet as of 6:30 am, 50 minutes late so far.

353 with 4624 leading and typical 5 car consist, no rear unit, departed Dearborn just a couple minutes late this morning.

Meanwhile, 49/449 has 107/112 leading and the typical 11 car Lake Shore consist. They did pretty well on time up to Toledo but have really been socked since then.

Well, here is a sort of new one out of Pontiac this afternoon.

Train 350 arrived about 25 minutes early at Pontiac today based on its summer schedule. But there must be problems getting 355 ready to depart.

A Charger locomotive just drifted in reverse light past MP 22.5 on the Holly behind my house. I have seen entire Amtrak train shoved south but not just a locomotive that I recall.

Anyway, my guess, and Buster Manning can chime in at any time, something is wrong with the spare locomotive in Pontiac (if there is one) so they have to turn the one that brought in 350 today. And turn it at Milwaukee Junction instead of Pontiac Yard. 20 mile reverse move versus one two miles each way. Why not Pontiac, who knows? Maybe it is full of trains right now like it was once before that delayed the wying of 350 one day this past winter when Amtrak was short on power. And they do have time this time to go all the way to Milwaukee Junction and back if all goes well. Never a dull moment on the railroad.

Here is a 4:45 pm update. The Charger locomotive just passed MP 22.5 northbound running in reverse again so they must have wye'd it at Milwaukee Jct as suspected. Should be plenty of time to tie her on to the 355 train set and depart Pontiac on time. We will see.

Final update: Train 355 left Pontiac 15 minutes late. They had a long hard day before even leaving.

Are Venture cars showing up on any trains beside 350/355? Are all the Wolverines powered by Chargers?

Genesis 172 leading 30 tonight. 29 went west this morning with a new ALC-42 leading the way.

Yes the Wolverines are always powered by Chargers now with a few once in a while exceptions.

Yes, only350/355 have Venture cars on the Wolverine trains for now. Plus one old snack/business car.

As of 21:36 ET, Train #354 is stopped at New Buffalo and is in a service disruption.

As of 22:27 ET, #354 is still stopped at New Buffalo, and now #355 is taking delay at Three Oaks waiting for them. According to Amtrak's Twitter page, #354 is dealing with "mechanical issues". I presume that means a buns-up Charger.

Amtrak 354 just went NB through Bloomfield Hills at 7 am, arriving six hours late at Pontiac.

Amtrak 351 left Pontiac on time. We will see about 353 which will use 354's train set.

353 on time today according to Amtrak App. Seems like a quick flip, it is possible they had a locomotive ready to be put on the south end.

Amtrak 355 left Pontiac about an hour and a 45 minutes late today for some reason, just passing MP 22.5 on the Holly.

Amtrak 351 again left Pontiac over an hour late this morning. I thought I heard 354 going by a couple hours late last night heading to Pontiac so maybe this had something to do with this morning.

354 struck a vehicle at Central Avenue in Detroit. Arrived in Pontiac at 4:49am.

Fox 2 Detroit at 5 PM reports two people in motor vehicle died. Unconfirmed report from a passenger on the train claimed auto was trying to beat train to crossing.

As of 15:31 CT, a long eastbound train is entering the Amtrak Michigan Line at Porter Junction. He came out of Burns Harbor. Presumed empty grain train but I should have eyes on it here in a bit.

Confirmed. East over the South Shore in Michigan City at 15:48 CT
