LSRC Flint today...#127 is currently in Coldwater Yard working on it's southbound train. There is an empty LSRC #388 coal train setting head end at Carpenter road, with 3 LSRC units, leader is the #1174. #Y-110 switching out cars.

GDLK departed Plainwell for points north at 2:50 after working Otsego. Power was 4124 and, I think, 4125. About 16ish cars mostly tank with a few CHs and what looked like a few coil steel. My view through the trees from a moving vehicle was not ideal.

Thanks for the note Jim. Grand Elk north through Byron Center at 4:44pm. WAMX 4124, WAMX 4125, and 16 cars right on the money. Same deal, mostly tank cars, 4 steel coil cars, and a few covered hoppers mixed in.

Is Plainwell where the paper plant is? If they worked the plant where are the box cars, they would have picked up?

The mill is on the old LS&MS line in Otsego that branches off the Grand Elk main in Plainwell. Often times if the cars are not bound for CSX, they will leave the cars they pull from the mill in the runaround in Plainwell to pick up on their way back south, rather than drag them up to Grand Rapids and back.

I haven't known them to take them north in a good long time. They don't bother with the runaround track usually, they just leave them on the LS&MS and grab them on the way back south. Several weeks ago they didn't return on a Friday, so something came up from Kalamazoo and got them on a Saturday.

GRE left another line of mostly BNSF hoppers in Lowell. May have been the ones south of town, but too cold and dark to check!

Grand Elk south through Byron Center at 11:07pm. WAMX 4125, a 2nd loco, and 38ish cars. Many tank cars, a few covered hoppers, and 2 empty centerbeams near the rear.

Back south at 5:01pm. WAMX 4125, WAMX 4124, and 12 cars (8 covered hoppers and 4 steel coil cars on the rear)

15:14 - HESR Job 702 pulls onto the PH Wye at Durand before backing into the yard.
16:45 - HESR Job 701 backs onto the PH Wye at Durand before heading back to Saginaw.

I saw it at 54th st and chased it to 100th. Do they always stop and proceed at the 54th st crossing?

Currently in Ensel Yard. 1751 is hooked up to a lone scrap gone while 1758 is picking up interchange cars from CSX.
Looks like a run to Friedland on the Old Town Spur today
