D708-07 departed Howell for Lansing at 17:20 with 61 cars. The last 30 were empty fly ash cars which may be the last of those coming out of Ann Pere seeing there was so many of them. If D706-07 left Lansing by 16:49, the meet should be at Williamston. Won't be Fowlerville because 708 is already moving west from there. D706 cleared all the cars off of main two so should have quite a jag. 708 parked 57-60 cars there yesterday.

Might as well call it a night on D706, Micah. Their slow speed was evidently due to engine problems, again. They have stalled on Ann Pere hill. With a long heavy train and the crew basically "short" on time, regardless, if they have to double their train to Brighton, get help, or get their power issues fixed, don't count on this crew getting beyond Brighton, they still have the diamond blocked as well.

EDIT on D706: Conductor to walk his entire train back to the end, which should take an hour, back the train to the west end signal at Howell, walk back to Lucy Road to make a cut and head east with no EOT, if they can even make the hill with that. They will not be returning to get the rest of their train and a best, die on the main at Silver Lake Road at Green Oak. Good luck with that.

Can he not just remove the EOT from the last car and put it on the end of his shorter train? Also hope he dressed warm.

When you double a hill you basically setup the train such that you will eventually put it back together in the original order. There's no need for the EOT just to go up a siding or two. Plus those things are a pain to carry especially when you have to walk along the train on the ballast slope...definitely best to just leave it back there.

The end result of yesterday's D706 at Howell: The train was backed up so the head end was between Walnut Street and the wooden bridge which put the tail end west of MP 56. Highlander Way crossing was cut. Taxi had the crew picked up by 10:40pm. Another taxi brought a Lansing crew to Howell at 12:55am. This crew put the train back togehter, and had zero problems making Ann Pere hill this time at 2:15am. Crew took it MP 25 and taxied back to Lansing.

Y106 with 2 GP40-3s and 8 cars east by CH 146 at 10:02. Looks like a Fox turn today.
